Tigmi - Marrakech - Morocco

Luxury yoga holiday -

Friday 24th September - Friday 1st October

                                                                         Costs: from £580
 Tigmi - Marrakech Morocco

Tigmi, situated 24km south of Marrakech is set within a magical desert landscape. On the brow of the Berber hamlet of Tagadert, its labyrinth of narrow alleyways and flat-roofed village houses have a timeless, biblical feel to it.

Tigmi - Marrakech Morocco Tigmi - Marrakech Morocco

'Tigmi', meaning 'my house' in the local Berber dialect, was built in 1840 for the local judge. As with many North African dwellings, the interior is all: a step inside, and the peaceful beauty of Tigmi is revealed. The first impression is of a lovely garden laid to lawns and paths, with banana palms, citrus and olive trees, and a swimming pool with soft, jade-coloured water. The scents and colours of orange blossom and roses assail the senses. Fifteen tortoises live in this garden, adding to the unhurried feel of this tranquil oasis.

There are two swimming pools, one of which is heated to 26 degrees throughout the year. There are sun-loungers around the pool and shaded areas in the gardens, furnished with comfortable divans for those of you who prefer to laze around out of the sun.

The Daily Programme
The first yoga class will start on Friday evening and will be a gentle introduction to the week. The yoga space, a covered roof terrace has stuinning views of Marrakech across the plains . There will be two classes a day with an early morning start of pranayama and silent meditation and the first Asana class starting at 8am and an evening class at around 5pm. All classes will be suitable for all levels .

Please bring your own mat and block and belts if you use them, as the hotel does not provide them.

A late breakfast/brunch of delicious home-made juices, honey, yoghurts, pancakes, cheeses, locally made breads, fresh fruit and cereals will be served after class.

All evening meals are traditionally North African dishes, with vegetarian meals also wonderfully prepared. Just inform the in-house chef during the day of which option you would like!

    Things to do
The rest of the day can be spent lazing Moroccan style: lounging, reading or swimming in one of the two pools, playing backgammon or chess in one of the many gardens and courtyards or popping into Marrakech on the hotel's free mini-bus service.

Tigmi also has its own Hamman, spa treatments and massage therapists on hand. There are a few bicycles available for the more energetic to explore the local area.

Outside of Tigmi there are local sporting activities such as horse riding and golf. Cultural treats are plentiful with mosques, museums, a visit to the famous square Jemaa el Fna with its acrobats, dancers and magicians, the Majorelle Gardens and the grove of 150,0000 palm trees at La Palmeraie. A visit to one of the souks in Marrakech's old city is an art form in itself, with busy market stalls and colourful displays of the traders' wares - local crafts, satins, silks, glittery shoes, leather wares, paintings, spices and food.

There are various day excusions further afield, arranged by the hotel such as a visit to coastal Essaouira. Music lovers may have heard of the Festival d'Essaouira which hosts four days and nights of African gnawa music, world music and jazz. For the more energetic, subject to snowfall, skiing can be enjoyed in the small resort of Oukaimeden in the Atlas range.

Rajasthan Castle - India

5th March - 15th March 2011

A truly exquisite and memorable 10 day holiday

Costs from £525

Treat yourself to a holiday of a lifetime in the spectacular beauty and richness of Rajasthan.

Standing high on a plateau of the great Vindhychal ranges is the 16th century Castle Bijaipur. Having been occupied by Kings and Queens for centuries, the present Maharaja (a great lover of yoga) has opened the doors of his exquisite castle to the public. The hospitality is so wonderful you are made to feel like a Maharaj yourself from the moment you arrive. Surrounded by villages and breathtaking views of the valley, this really is a very special place.

The timetable

We will spend Eight nights at the castle and two nights in luxurious tents. We will camp (in style) by the lotus lake, amidst the stillness and beauty of the Rajasthan countryside. The rooms are all clean, well maintained and have both the luxury of modern comforts and the elegance of the past. You can share a room or have single accommodation.

There will be two yoga sessions a day. In the morning we will do early morning meditation and pranayama, followed by asanas. This session is 2-3 hours. The evening sessions will depend on the teacher and will vary from restorative yoga postures to technique classes, meditation, pranayama, dancing, singing and chanting. Evening sessions will usually last between 1-2 hours. All sessions are optional.

We may spend a little time during the holiday, whilst staying by the lake, exploring the beauty of silence.

Things to do

Bijaipur offers an action-packed holiday or a lazy pool-side holiday - the choice is yours.

There are jeep safaris to experience nearby wildlife and bird-life, treks to waterfalls and the surrounding villages, temples and wonderful Marwari horses. You can explore the countryside on day trips to Chittorgarh Fort and the stunning city of Udaipur and there are opportunities for cooking lessons, bicycle rides and table tennis.

There is no shortage of things to do in and around the castle; even just a stroll into the surrounding village is a feast for the body, mind and soul...talking of which, massages and other treatments are also available. These are an extra cost, please ask for details.

Accommodation

The hotel itself has a wonderful swimming pool, beautiful gardens to sit in, musicians to entertain you every evening and delicious food with secret recipes that have been in the family for decades.

The rooms are all clean, well maintained and have both the luxury of modern comforts and the elegance of the past. You can share a room or have single accommodation. There are two types of rooms to choose from, both of which are of a high standard. The suites however, are more luxurious; spacious and definitely worth it for those who would like to splash out.

DAHAB TRAVEL INFORMATION - MONEY
You can change money at the airport or in Dahab itself at a cash machine. Travelers' cheques can be cashed at the bank in Dahab and at various nearby hotels. This hotel is very safe and there is a safe to leave valuables in. There is a wide choice of excellent restaurants along the sea front and a bazaar for late night shopping and internet access. An evening meal will cost roughly £10-12. The organised overnight group trip into the desert costs around £35 depending on the size of the group. The cost of a dive in Dahab is between £30-40
.

NB I would strongly advise to bring English pounds, Egyption pounds or travellers cheques as the cashpoint machines were not always reliable and most banks, shops and hotels do not take credit cards.

FLIGHTS & TRANSFERS
You will to need to make your own travel arrangements to Sharm El Sheik, the airport nearest to Dahab and it is advisable to book flights asap as prices do go up nearer to the date of travel. It is best to try and book a flight to arrive in Dahab late afternoon/early evening on the day of the start of your holiday. There will be a taxi waiting to take you to the hotel. It is not necessary to purchase a visa unless you are planning to travel outside of Sinai after the yoga holiday.

CANCELLATION POLICY.
The £75 deposit is non-refundable. 7-14 days before arrival - 50% of total cost. Less than 7 days before arrival - 100% of total cost
