New Year Detox Workshop

The perfect way to kick-start your year, this New Year Detox Workshop will be a combination of special nutritional advice, kriyas, breathing excercises, hot vinyasa flow and meditation.

 At 1.30pm - Nutritional Therapist Elisabeth Philipps will discuss detoxing foods, receipes and juices offering the most effective results whilst empowering you with the knowledge to take healthy living into your everyday life.

Then at 2 30pm - We will get the energy flowing with a fun playful but vigorous vinyasa flow sequence, focusing on alignment to allow energy to flow at the optimal level. We will practice twists designed to cleanse our bodies internally after the excess of the xmas period and to rid the organs of accumulated toxins, reducing physical symptoms of overload such as stagnant weight, skin problems, poor digestion, emotional imbalance and lethargy. Forward folds to allow us to let go and back bends to open and awaken our body and mind to the New Year ahead. I will also be encouraging you to consciously release negative thought patterns that might be preventing you from being your true authentic self.... Lets wring out the old and and let go of stuff that no longer serves and make space for the 'New You'!

The workshop will begin and end with a short meditation to set our intention (sankalpa) for the year ahead. If you can, spend some time before the workshop thinking about an intention for the New Year, positively focusing on the highest outcomes possible.

Core Strengthening Masterclass

Engaging the core muscles is essential to providing structural stability whilst moving. This ‘inner core’ leaves other muscle groups free to move us into and out of asana in a reciprocal relationship that balances load bearing during such movement. Since no muscle group ever works in isolation, if the muscles that provide stability don’t engage sufficiently, muscles responsible for action and movement get drawn in to provide compensatory support.

In this masterclass we'll explore the compensatory patterns which may be inhibiting you from experiencing the full benefits that yoga asana can bring. We’ll experience how, when muscles work in harmony and balance, it is as if the whole orchestra of the body comes to play and there is transformation on all levels. This result in a tremendous felt-sense of expansion and lightness – even in those poses, which may often be perceived as strenuous. We’ll also look at how having a deep bodily sense of support goes beyond our physiology and reaches deep into our emotional and psychological planes.

We'll include some experiential anatomy to help you find and feel your core muscles and importantly to see how they work in total relationship to your whole body.

Back Care Therapeutics Masterclass

Fed up from being restricted by back pain? Or do you want to prevent back pain in the future? Then this is the perfect master class for you!

Most people suffer from back pain in some degree at some point in their lives, whether it’s just an ache from doing too much, or the complete debilitation of an inflamed facet joint. And yet we do very little to specifically exercise the back to keep it strong, supple and functiuoning properly. When we encounter pain in our bodies or have a history of injury, we meet a very intimate experience of discomfort and limitation, this can resisit our access to our very own natural ability to heal. In this rejuvenating and healing  workshop there will be specific attention and emphasis placed on alignment and movements that will alleviate tension and tightness in the back. We will look at general misalignments within the  feet, legs, pelvis, shoulders, neck and head investigating how these can relate to stiffness, fatigue, limited range of motion, injury and chronic pain in the sacrum, lower back upperback and neck. Through simple straightforward exercises, active engagement of the muscle groups that create stability and  specific alignment techniques we will learn how to strengthen areas that feel weak or underdeveloped and support areas that have been effected by injury, overuse or strain.

The spine is also absolutely central in the pranic body. It is debateable whether Sushumna, the central energy channel of this subtle body, actually runs up the spine. In some philosophies, notably in Buddhism, Sushumna is said to run up the centre of the body and is completely independent from the spine. However, it seems that the physical structure which contains and protects the delicate structures of the nervous system, the conduit of the body’s physical control system, is closely associated with the subtle energy systems. In yogic systems, Sushumna does indeed coincide with the spine, with the six true chakras being located at various stages along its length (the trigger points, ksetrams, are located along the front of the body).
Using yoga to look after your back will not only prevent injury, but will also align and purify Sushumna, allowing the subtle energies of the body to flow freely, bringing health and strength to the whole being.

We will expand our limited potential and find a new dimension
so that we can practice yoga safely, thus encouraging expansion, freedom and expression through our bodies at all levels. When we take the time to be attentive to our body’s needs in clear, honest and caring ways, we open the gateway of hope and healing, on a deeper level when pain dissolves our heart opens and we get a hit of your true nature - joy.
